Orthetrum sabina sabina (Drury,1770) are difficult to identify male and female without a close look at section 2 of the ball shaped abdomen. Both male and female are similar in pale yellowish green pattern.

雄蟲複眼律色或深綠色，胸部綠色或黃綠色，側視具6條散亂的黑色斑紋，

生活於低中海拔山區，常見於水田、池塘、沼澤等水域活動，環境適應能力佳，為優勢的種類，數量很多。

雄蟲胸部為黃綠、黑色相間條狀斑；腹部黑色，具白色斑紋。雌雄差異不明顯。

本種是平地及中低海拔極常見的種類。成蟲出現在山溝、水田、池塘、沼澤等各類靜水環境，幾乎隨處可見。

顏色黑綠相雜第4─6節突然變得非常細長 (以此特徵可輕易與同屬其他種區分) ，為黑底具白斑，

生態成蟲出現於3一 11月，廣泛分布於中海拔以下各地和蘭嶼，成蟲活動的範圍相當廣泛，沒有水域的地區仍然可見稚蟲棲息於水田、池塘、沼澤、湖泊、田溝等各類靜水域為生環境中。

複眼墨綠色，胸部以淡綠色為底色，側視具六條黑斑，翅透明，腹部為黃、綠、黑、白相混雜。分布於中、低海拔或蘭嶼綠島，成蟲出現月份為4-12月。成熟的雄蟲經常在棲息環境水域邊的枝條或石塊上佔據領域，遇到同種雄蟲或其他體型相近的種類會發生追逐爭鬥的情形。
